Why an OL: I love how beautiful and welcoming the UConn Hartford campus is. It amazes me just how kind and wholesome the students and faculty are here. 

Tips for Success: Create meaningful academic relationships with your professors! They’ll be your biggest supporters during your times of need. 

Favorite UConn Memory: Playing giant Jenga and cornhole with my friends in between classes. 

Favorite UConn Class: PSYC 2100WQ, Principles of Research in Psychology & PSYC 2400, Developmental Psychology!

Major: Aces Exploratory Program

Why an OL: Being an orientation leader seems like a lot of fun to me! I would like to help new freshmen make a successful transition into college life and have the greatest experience possible here at UCONN. 

Tip for Success: Introduce yourself to your professors, visit the library, and keep up with your assignments. 

Favorite UConn Memory: The first day back to school in person, and seeing several of my online classmates in person for the first time. 

Favorite UConn Class: HIST 1203 and POLS 1402

Favorite Place on or Around Campus: Any of the study rooms are ideal for doing work in between classes.

Year: Sophomore Class of 2024 (going to be a junior class of 2024)

Why an OL: I want to help new students realize the great opportunities that they have at UConn Hartford and help them find their place on campus. I enjoy coming to campus every day and my goal is to help the incoming freshmen feel the same!  

Tip for Success: Try and create a good study schedule and have a planner! Also, visit the AAC to learn some new study and organizational skills. Lastly, spend a lot of time on campus, through doing this you'll learn what's happening on campus and meet some new people.  

Favorite UConn Memory: My favorite UConn memory is performing in the 2nd annual UConn Hartford HusKeys a capella concert at the infinity music hall. There are many fun and creative groups like these at the UConn Hartford campus.  

Favorite UConn Class: My favorite UConn class is MCB 2400, Human Genetics 🙂

Favorite Place on or Around Campus: My favorite place on campus is on the first floor. There are a few tables there that overlook the courtyard and the UConn library at the Hartford public library. I love to sit at these tables and study, it is usually very quiet and when I need a break I can simply enjoy the view.

Why an OL: I learned so much about different college paths in exploring my options and I want to encourage students in finding their own route! 

Tip for Success: Be proactive with your assignments and make sure to personally get to know your professors.  

Favorite UConn Memory: Organizing and speaking at the demonstration for Palestine.  

Favorite UConn Class: Arab 1751 (Trad Arab Lit, Cult & Civil), I learned a lot about the traditions and families of my ancestors.

Why an OL: I wanted to become an orientation leader to be a safe space for students to be themselves and transition to college after two years of the unknown with a support system. 

Tip for Success: Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and know you have a whole community ready to help you in your academic and holistic journey. 

Favorite UConn Memory: My favorite UConn memory is going to New York as part of a school trip and attending a haunted trail for Halloween. 

Favorite UConn Class: My favorite UConn class is WGSS 3403 “Women and Religion”

Why an OL: I wanted to be an Orientation Leader because I'm happy to assist the new huskies in this exciting transition while helping them fall in love with the Hartford campus.

Favorite UConn Memory: My favorite UConn memory is the day I joined the team at the Academic Achievement Center.

Why an OL: I want to be the guide I always needed coming into college as a freshman. This is an amazing opportunity to gain leadership skills and be of assistance to incoming freshmen.

Tip for Success: What I have learned is time management and having a balance is extremely important if you want to succeed in college.

Favorite UConn Memory: Making new friends and going on late-night walks around the campus.

Favorite UConn Class: HDFS 2300, Family Interaction Process, I learned about different aspects of family, marriage, and divorce (I also learned a lot more about my family).

Why an OL: I want to help students transition into college comfortably.  

Tip for Success: Planning your week/day ahead of time. Make a list and make sure you complete all of your activities. Creating connections with staff and your peers. Utilizing your resources on campus will improve your productivity on campus. 

Favorite UConn Memory: My favorite Uconn memory is when I met up with a few friends I haven't seen since elementary school.  

Favorite UConn Class: PHIL 1104. This class constantly teased my brain which made it enjoyable and entertaining.

Favorite Place on or Around Campus:  My favorite place on campus is the atrium. The atrium is a great spot to meet new people and study with classmates.

Why an OL: I want to help with the transition from high school to college which can be very overwhelming. Please understand there are so many individuals, including myself, that are dedicated to help you! 

Tip for Success: Invest in an agenda to keep track of all homework, quizzes, and upcoming exams.  

Favorite UConn Memory: If I had to choose just one, my favorite UConn memory would be attending my summer orientation. I made meaningful friendships that have continued to this day.

Favorite Place on or Around Campus: My favorite place around campus is Barnes & Noble’s UConn Hartford Bookstore which is located across the street from the UConn Hartford Times Building. There, you can purchase UConn apparel, obtain required textbooks, get snacks, or order from the Starbucks menu.

Year: Senior, Class of 2022 (Fall) 

Major: Marketing Management 

Hometown: Andover, CT  

Why an OL: Orientation is one of the first experiences that new UConn students have. My goal is to make sure that this experience is memorable, fun, and engaging for all students.  

Tip for Success: Don’t be afraid to use the university resources (Q-center, Academic Achievement Center, W-Center, Career Center, etc) ! You are not in this alone. 🙂  

Favorite UConn Memory: Dressing up for Halloween in Undergraduate Student Government. Each of USG’s four committee’s had to come up with their own theme!  

Favorite UConn Class: English 1011 with Professor David Lyons. This class taught me SO MUCH about writing (also, the professor was incredibly supportive)!

Favorite Place on or Around Campus: The couches in the atrium! Incredibly comfortable!

Why an OL: To support incoming freshmen by helping them to navigate resources and share my experience as a first generation student. 

Tips for Success: Networking is essential! 

Favorite Uconn Memory: Salsa dancing in the Atrium! It was so much fun!  

Favorite UConn Class: Chemistry sequence 1124,25 &26Q, great professor!
